The Department of English, started in 1961 is the largest in the college with a staff strength of 13 against the sanctioned strength of 22, handling 251 hours of PART II ENGLISH,MAIN and ALLIED ENGLISH for over two-thirds of the students of the college.
The English Main was started in 1968 and M.A. English in 1979. In 1989 the P.G. course was shifted to KMCPGS.Earlier the college was offering couses like English for career,English Literature and Professional English.Now the college is offering only one course named B.A.,English (2017 onwards)under the CBCS. The Department Library has 270 books.Computer Aided Language Lab has been installed at the cost of nearly one lakh to cater to the needs of the ENGLISH students for learning PHONETICS and SPOKEN ENGLISH.
