Department honours meritorious students by offering prof. G.BalarKrishnan Nair Award every year. Posses 1387 Library books and maps and charts. Also posses one photo phone for efficient Teaching. Posses one 2-in-1 for using Audio cassettes.

Conducted an archaeological exhibition under the title of Wake-up the Burried past consisting of archaeological arifacts excavated in and around Pondicherry to create Archaeological Awareness" in the young minds- Mr. P. Ravitchandirane, Lecturer of this Department was the Chief architect of this endeavour.

For the first time in South India, this Department started B.T.T.M- Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management- a vocational stream of Degree Programme under the auspicious of UGC Guidelines in the year 1996.

Observed the Golden Jubilee of India's Independence in 1997 in a grand manner-(resource persons from the Pondicherry University, K.M.C.P.G. Studies, Bharathidasan Govt College for Women were the important participants)observed and arrarged.
Nethaji's centenary celebration and some rare collection of photographs Exhibition in the year 1997.
Conducted a Fashion Show for the first time in Pondicherry by the Tourism wing of this Department in Co-ordination with DINAMALAR daily Newspaper in 1999.

Arikamedu- a model has been made and exhibited in the Department. Which attracted all high level of dignatories to have a look on it. Honourable Lieutnant Governor, Honourable Education Minister of Pondicherry and secretaries of Education and Tourism, Managing Director of PT & TDC appreciated this effort of Mr. P. Ravithchandirane, Govt Museum kept this model on display for sometime.

This model of Arikamedu is on display at PT&TDC office at present. Date of establishment of the Department of History: 1978-79. Built-Up Area of the Department 1400 Sq.feet(including Staff room)
